A mouse, or mice, are probably the culprit in a vehicle fire doused by members of the Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company in Monroe around 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29.

The department said they responded to the report of a fire on the Monore Turnpike and found the engine bay of the vehicle on fire.

The department stretched a hose to the vehicle and was able to quickly knock down the blaze, fire officials said.

"The fire's origin was attributed to mice in the engine bay as the vehicle is not driven often," the department said on Facebook.
